Good Afternoon Residents, We recently had several incidents of Cold Callers trying to sell items door to door in the Swansea area . Although there has not been any reports of this nature in your local area we wanted to share some information that residents may find useful to know. Cold Callers may offer services such as property repairs, gardening, driveway work, selling products or request personal information on the door step. Please note: - You DO NOT have to answer the door- If you believe persons knocking to be cold callers then you do not have to answer the door to them or engage with them.
- Do not share personal, financial or banking details.
- Be cautious of Pressure tactics such as “ TODAY ONLY” offers.
- Ask them to leave if you are not interested. Genuine callers will do so
- Don't be afraid to ask for their ID. Genuine callers will be able to show you company ID. However if you are still unsure, don't be afraid to ask them to leave and follow up with the legitimate company.
If someone refuses to leave, behaves aggressively or you feel unsafe, please contact police on 101 or 999. Suspicious activity can also be reported to ACTION FRAUD. Thank you for your co-operation in keeping our community safe. |
